Embark on an enchanting journey for our youngest “Shumka dancers-in-training” as they delve into the captivating world of Ukrainian dance, traditions, and folklore. Throughout the week, themes and concepts come to life in a thoughtful, creative, and engaging manner, enhanced by exciting new water/cooking/out of this world themed crafts, songs, stories, games, and dance exercises. Campers showcase their talents in a heartwarming concert and contribute to a captivating art show at the week’s end.

Immerse yourself in a week filled with swimming indoors and outdoors, voyageur canoeing, splash park excitement, river float, and a sun-soaked beach trip – all harmoniously paired with 15 hours of top-tier dance instruction. Shumka Splash invites you to dance, make a splash, and revel in the magic of a summer camp experience where the spirit of dance meets the refreshing embrace of water.

Embark on an empowering journey at Shumka’s Lesia Ukrainka camp, an exclusive girls-only experience immersed in the rich tapestry of Ukrainian culture. Inspired by the legendary artist, musician, poet, and writer Lesia Ukrainka, this camp transcends boundaries, celebrating female empowerment. The week unfolds with enlightening presentations on prominent women in Ukrainian culture, a showcase of artistry by influential female artists from the community, and a blend of fun, relevant activities. Field trips offer a bridge between history and the present, creating a dynamic space for learning and inspiration. Shumka’s Lesia Ukrainka promises a transformative and uplifting experience, fostering pride, creativity, and a strong sense of community among the remarkable young women who participate.
NEW Shumka Chefs 2.0 Ages 6-8, 9-12 July 22-26
Ignite a culinary passion at any age with our unique camp experience! Led by our expert Ukrainian Chef, budding young chefs will embark on a flavourful journey exploring the world of cooking. From mastering basic cooking skills and kitchen safety to crafting dishes integral to Ukrainian culture, campers will discover the joy of creating delicious meals. Fusing the love for food and dance, participants will also enjoy 15 hours of top-tier Ukrainian dance training and choreography. Enriching skills in both the kitchen and on the dance floor, this camp promises a week of creativity, culinary delights, and performances that will leave a lasting impression.
NEW Out of This World! Ages 6-8, 9-12 July 29-August 2
Embark on an extraordinary adventure where a fusion of cutting-edge activities awaits! Dive into heart-pounding sessions of Laser Tag, explore the immersive world of VR arcade, unleash your inner Code Ninja, engage in epic battles with Foam Fighters, and delve into the realm of robotics. But that’s not all – complementing these out-of-this-world activities, campers will enjoy 15 hours of high-quality dance instruction. Join us for a week filled with excitement, innovation, and creative expression as campers conquer new frontiers both in technology and dance.

- Transportation to offsite recreational activities is included.
- Camp confirmation packages, sent in June, include a list of items to bring, schedule, activity waiver forms, and camp policies.
- Day campers are responsible for their own morning and afternoon snacks, and lunch. Shumka Minis camps do not require lunch.
- Camp T-shirts are distributed at camp.
- Before and after-day camp care is available for $20/day from 8-9 am and 4-5 pm. Shumka Minis do not have aftercare.
- Refunds are granted for medical reasons with a doctor’s note or in the case of a family emergency, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

The legendary Kolomeyka night with the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers, promising an unforgettable experience. This camp is your opportunity to enjoy safe and inclusive ballet movement classes and experience dance’s benefits in improving health and well-being. We will immerse ourselves in the music, dance, and costuming of the romantic ballet, Giselle. We will learn three different variations from the ballet, in the ‘Silver Swans’ style. Seniors on Broadway Ages 55+ June 24-28, 9:00am-12:00pm $200
Get out your top hat, come ready to strut your stuff and enjoy the experience of ‘One, Singular Sensation’ and ‘I Got Rhythym’ as we hit the floor dancing! We will study two famous broadway shows, A Chorus Line and Crazy You, learn a variety of dances from the shows, and above all, we will experience the excitement of Broadway, all from the Shumka Dance Centre in Edmonton!
Seniors Can Shumka European Folkdance Ages 55+ August 19-23, 9:00am-12:00pm $200
Join us for a half-day, week-long cultural experience as we delve into the dance styles of Wales, Austria, France, Serbia, and Ukraine. Each day will bring a new country, its culture, music, dance style, customs, and costumes. No dance experience is necessary, just a desire to move along to great music and have FUN! All levels of mobility are accepted and accomodated. Five different countries, five different dances!
