“Shumka has a great product no matter what they’re doing, be it Mosquito’s Wedding, Ancestors and Elders…there’s such a great connection they make with the community. People have to see that magic, and keep that magic onstage.”

Bill and MaryAnn Baziuk met through Shumka in the early 1970s, touring around the world and eventually marrying. Their two daughters, Katrina and Markiana, also went on to dance for the company.

In addition to their contributions onstage, the Baziuks have been integral to Shumka’s success, both as generous donors and key contributors. Bill has served multiple terms as Shumka’s treasurer, while MaryAnn has made immeasurable contributions to Shumka’s costumes, with the MaryAnn Baziuk Wardrobe Room in the Shumka Dance Centre named in her honour.

The Baziuks’ support over the years has kept our organization strong and looking its finest. Thank you, Bill and MaryAnn.
