SCHOLARSHIPS
The Shumka Dance Festival invites community organizations, businesses, families, and individuals to celebrate Ukrainian dance and culture by sponsoring scholarships for the 2026 festival. Scholarship sponsors play a vital role in supporting emerging talent.
Scholarship contributions will be highlighted:
- In the festival playbill, a keepsake for many attendees.
- Live during the Saturday evening Competition Show.
- On the Shumka website.
Deadline for scholarship submissions: March 27, 2026.
Scholarship Amounts
Scholarships can be awarded at the following levels, tailored to performance categories:
- $50 – Solos
- $75 – Duets
- $150 – Small groups
- $250 – Large groups
- $150 – $250 – Other*
- Competition show first place: $1,000
- Competition show second place: $500
- Competition show third place: $250
If you wish to specify criteria for your scholarship recipient, such as age, dance style, dance trick, or other characteristics, please note these criteria in the submission form. All funds go directly to the scholarship recipients.
Payment Options
- For cheque payments, you may either drop them off in person or mail them. Cheques should be made payable to “Ukrainian Shumka Dancers.” Please place cheques in an envelope and be sure to clearly state the name of the dance club, either on the envelope itself or in an accompanying note. Address the envelope as follows: Shumka Dance Centre: 10515 111 Street NW Edmonton, AB T5H 3E8.

- For e-transfer payments, fees should be sent to june.eeles@shumka.com. Please include a message that clearly states the name of the organization and intended purpose of the payment to ensure proper tracking of your payment.
