Did You Know...
Summertime Dreams, a lullaby for the war-torn children of the world, is an international collaboration directed by Shumka’s Gordon Gordey, choreographed by Viktor Lytvynov of the National Children’s Theatre of Kyiv, and sung by Junetta Jamerson of the Black Pioneer Heritage Singers with Winnipeg’s Alexis Kochan. This moving piece is danced by the Shumka Dancers to a sound score of traditional lullabies, Gershwin’s Summertime, and actual battlefield engagement soundscape provided by Edmonton Garrison soldiers.

"You could hardly have asked ... for a more quintessentially Edmonton evening." Paula Simons, Edmonton Journal
"It is difficult to express the pride I feel when I am privileged to see your performances. My grandparents came here with only enough resources for survival. If they could only see how their dream of a better land for their children and grandchildren has played out in Western Canada, and before our very eyes, in Rocky Mountain House." Alger J.C. Libby, Principal, St. Matthew Catholic School, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta
"Shumka is one of my favourite clients. You guys bring SUCH great energy to the building - it's really fantastic!" Jennifer Alabiso, Senior Manager, Community Engagement, Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society
