Shumka - a 55-member company of dancers is celebrating its 40th anniversary
with this premiere presentation. World-class choreographers, designers and musicians
have come together to create an exciting production that is a celebration of
two classics - Shumka's signature whirlwind style and the magical world of Cinderella
- a stunningly visual show with elaborate sets, hundreds of costumes, and a
symphonic musical score.
As in all of Shumka's productions, the concept of storyline theatre portraying
universal themes has made attending a Shumka show a favourite for thousands
of Canadians nation-wide. Shumka's Cinderella presents a classic story with
dramatic and comedic elements within the context of historically based Ukrainian
folk culture.
