Dave Ganert, Shumka’s Artistic Director, is a prolific choreographer who has created more than 20 original main-stage dance-works for Shumka over the past four years; an accomplishment that is unequalled by any choreographer in the Ukrainian dance genre in Canada.

Through our professional staff, management, and company of artists, we seek to provide our families, customers, clients, business partners, artistic collaborators, volunteers, funders and supporters with experiences that reflects positively on our culture, our heritage, our art and our contribution to society.
We seek to create and develop opportunities for artists whose work and interests lie with advancing the quality and evolution of Ukrainian dance, music and culture. We share our resources within and beyond our immediate community and invest in people who share this same desire. We treasure the role of mentor when asked to serve in this capacity, and will continue to be a champion for art that has the ability to broaden our audience's experiences with our Ukrainian heritage.
